Family Portraits

“A family is a microcosm of the world, to understand communication, power, autonomy, trust, and intimacy within the world, we can look at the family.”

Family Portraits

Family Portraits, 2020, 5:28, three channel video installation

The Family Portraits show a mother, father and daughter posing for their family portrait; however, since it is a durational piece instead of a still image, the viewer gains more insight on the inner workings of this family. A family is a microcosm of the world, to understand communication, power, autonomy, trust, and intimacy within the world, we can look at the family; how the formative relationships between parent and child will ultimately influence how that child will give and receive love and attention in their relationships later on in life.
